又曰：「知是心之本體，心自然會知。見父，自然知孝；見兄，自然知弟；見孺子入井，自然知惻隱。此便是『良知』，不假外求。若『良知』之發，更無私意障礙；即所謂『充其惻隱之心，而仁不可勝用矣』。然在常人，不能無私意障礙；所以須用『致知』、『格物』之功。勝私復理，即心之『良知』更無障礙，得以充塞流行；便是致其知。知致，則意誠。」
