」 先生曰：「甘泉用功，所以轉得來。當時與說『親民』字不須改，他亦不信。今論『格物』亦近，但不須換『物』字作『理』字，只還他一『物』字便是。」 後有人問九川曰：「今何不疑『物』字？」曰：「《中庸》曰：『不誠無物。』；程子曰：『物來順應。』；又如『物各付物』、『胸中無物』之類，皆古人常用字也。」 他日，先生亦云然。
