何廷仁、黃正之、李侯璧、汝中、德洪侍坐。 先生顧而言曰：「汝輩學問不得長進，只是未立志。」 侯璧起而對曰：「珙亦願立志。」 先生曰：「難說不立，未是必為聖人之志耳。」 對曰：「願立必為聖人之志。」 先生曰：「你真有聖人之志，良知上更無不盡。良知上留得些子別念掛帶，便非必為聖人之志矣。」 洪初聞時，心若未服；聽說到此，不覺悚汗。
