一友問：「欲於靜坐時將好名，好色、好貨等根，逐一搜尋，掃除廓清，恐是剜肉做瘡否？」 先生正色曰：「這是我醫人的方子，真是去得人病根，更有大本事人，過了十數年，亦還用得著。你如不用，且放起，不要作壞我的方子！」 是友愧謝。 少間，曰：「此量非你事，必吾們稍知意思者為此說以誤汝。」 在坐者皆悚然。
