癸末春，鄒謙之來越問學，居數日，先生送別於浮峰。是夕與希淵諸友移舟宿延壽寺。秉燭夜坐，先生慨悵不已。 曰：「江濤煙柳，故人倏在百里外矣！」 一友問曰：「先生何念謙之之深也？」 先生曰：「曾子所謂『以能問於不能，以多問於寡，有若無，宜若虛，犯而不校』，若謙之者，良近之矣。」
