人君唯毋聽觀樂玩好則敗。凡觀樂者，宮室臺池，珠玉聲樂也。此皆費財盡力，傷國之道也。而以此事君者，皆姦人也。而人君聽之，焉得毋敗！然則府倉虛，蓄積竭，且姦人在上，則壅遏賢者而不進也。然則國適有患，則優倡侏儒起而議國事矣，是敺國而捐之也。故曰：「觀樂玩好之說勝，則姦人在上位。」
