Business is productive work, not speculation in existing goods.

Context

Henry Ford (1863–1947) founded Ford Motor Company in 1903 and turned the Model T into a mass-market product through standardized parts and the moving assembly line. In My Life and Work he insists that business is productive work, not speculation in goods that already exist. The distinction is central to his view that service, not financial trading, creates lasting value.

Today's question

What is the ratio of your time spent creating new things to time spent trading things already created?
