文學曰：「燕雀離巢宇而有鷹隼之憂，坎井之蛙離其居而有蛇鼠之患，況翺翔千仞而遊四海乎？其禍必大矣！此李斯所以折翼，而趙高沒淵也。聞文、武受命，伐不義以安諸侯大夫，未聞弊諸夏以役夷、狄也。昔秦常舉天下之力以事胡、越，竭天下之財以奉其用，然眾不能畢；而以百萬之師，為一夫之任，此天下共聞也。且數戰則民勞，久師則兵弊，此百姓所疾苦，而拘儒之所憂也。」
