文學曰：「行遠道者假於車，濟江、海者因於舟。故賢士之立功成名，因於資而假物者也。公輸子能因人主之材木，以構宮室臺榭，而不能自為專屋狹廬，材不足也。歐冶能因國君之銅鐵，以為金爐大鐘，而不能自為壺鼎盤杅，無其用也。君子能因人主之正朝，以和百姓，潤眾庶，而不能自饒其家，勢不便也。故舜耕歷山，恩不及州里，太公屠牛於朝歌，利不及妻子，及其見用，恩流八荒，德溢四海。故舜假之堯，太公因之周，君子能修身以假道者，不能枉道而假財也。」
