大夫曰：「至美素璞，物莫能飾也。至賢保真，偽文莫能增也。故金玉不琢，美珠不畫。今仲由、冉求無檀柘之材，隋、和之璞，而強文之，譬若雕朽木而礪鈆刀，飾嫫母畫土人也。被以五色，斐然成章，及遭行潦流波，則沮矣。夫重懷古道，枕籍詩、書，危不能安，亂不能治，郵裏逐雞，雞亦無黨也？」
