大夫曰：「性有剛柔，形有好惡，聖人能因而不能改。孔子外變二三子之服，而不能革其心。故子路解長劍，去危冠，屈節於夫子之門，然攝齊師友，行行爾，鄙心猶存。宰予晝寢，欲損三年之喪。孔子曰：『糞土之墻，不可杇也』，『若由不得其死、然。』故內無其質而外學其文，雖有賢師良友，若畫脂鏤冰，費日損功。故良師不能飾戚施，香澤不能化嫫母也。」
