謂丞相史曰：「文學結髮學語，服膺不舍，辭若循環，轉若陶鈞。文繁如春華，無效如抱風。飾虛言以亂實，道古以害今。從之，則縣官用廢，虛言不可實而行之；不從，文學以為非也，眾口囂囂，不可勝聽。諸卿都大府日久矣，通先古，明當世，今將何從而可矣？」
