丞相史曰：「山陵不讓椒跬，以成其崇；君子不辭負薪之言，以廣其名。故多見者博，多聞者知，距諫者塞，專己者孤。故謀及下者無失策，舉及眾者無頓功。詩云：『詢於芻蕘。』故布衣皆得風議，何況公卿之史乎？春秋士不載文，而書咺者，以為宰士也。孔子曰：『雖不吾以，吾其與聞諸。』仆雖不敏，亦嘗傾耳下風，攝齊句指，受業徑於君子之塗矣。使文學言之而是，仆之言有何害？使文學言之而非，雖微丞相史，孰不非也？」
