上患吏多受賕，密使左右試賂之。有司門令史受絹一匹，上欲殺之，民部尚書裴矩諫曰：「為吏受賂，罪誠當死；但陛下使人遺之而受，乃陷人於法也，恐非所謂『道之以德，齊之以禮。』」上悅，召文武五品已上告之曰：「裴矩能當官力爭，不為面從，倘每事皆然，何憂不治！」
