徵狀貌不逾中人，而有膽略，善回人主意，每犯顏苦諫；或逢上怒甚，征神色不移，上亦為之霽威。嘗謁告上塚，還，言於上曰：「人言陛下欲幸南山，外皆嚴裝已畢，而竟不行，何也？」上笑曰：「初實有此心，畏卿嗔，故中輟耳。」上嘗得佳鷂，自臂之，望見征來，匿懷中；征奏事固久不已，鷂竟死懷中。
