沙門法雅坐妖言誅。司空裴寂嘗聞其言，辛未，寂坐免官，遣還鄉里。寂請留京師，上數之曰：「計公勳庸，安得至此！直以恩澤為群臣第一。武德之際貨賂公行，紀綱紊亂，皆公之由也，但以故舊不忍盡法。得歸守墳墓，幸已多矣！」寂遂歸蒲州。未幾，又坐狂人信行言寂有天命，寂不以聞，當死；流靜州。會山羌作亂，或言劫寂為主。上曰：「寂當死，我生之，必不然也。」俄聞寂帥家僮破賊。上思其佐命之功，征入朝，會卒。
