司馬光：Zizhi Tongjian, Volume 193, Entry 21

乙酉，上問給事中孔穎達曰：「《論語》：『以能問於不能，以多問於寡，有若無，實若虛。』何謂也？」穎達具釋其義以對，且曰：「非獨匹夫如是，帝王亦然。帝王內蘊神明，外當玄默，故《易》稱『以蒙養正，以明夷蒞眾。』若位居尊極，炫耀聰明，以才陵人，飾非拒諫，則下情不通，取亡之道也。」上深善其言。
