戊辰，秘書少監虞世南上《聖德論》，上賜手詔，稱：「卿論太高。朕何敢擬上古！但比近世差勝耳。然卿適睹其始，未知其終。若朕能慎終如始，則此論可傳；如或不然，恐徒使後世笑卿也。」
