十一月，壬辰，以開府儀同三司長孫無忌為司空，無忌固辭曰：「臣忝預外戚，恐天下謂陛下為私。」上不許，曰：「吾為官擇人，惟才是與。苟或不才，雖親不用，襄邑王神符是也；如其有才，雖仇不充，魏徵等是也。今日之舉，非私親也。」
