大寧王順，隋氏之甥、伏允之嫡子也，為侍子於隋，久不得歸，伏允立它子為太子，及歸，意常怏怏。會李靖破其國，國人窮蹙，怨天柱王；順因眾心，斬天柱王，舉國請降。伏允帥千餘騎逃磧中，十餘日，眾散稍盡，為左右所殺。國人立順為可汗。壬子，李靖奏平吐谷渾。乙卯，詔復其國，以慕容順為西平郡王、趉故呂烏甘豆可汗。上慮順未能服其眾，仍命李大亮將精兵數千為其聲援。
