是歲，以給事中馬周為中書舍人。周有機辯，中書侍郎嶺岑文本常稱：「馬君論事，援引事類，揚榷古今，舉要刪煩，會文切理，一字不可增，亦不可減，聽之靡靡，令人忘倦。」
