司馬光：Zizhi Tongjian, Volume 200, Entry 10

初，太宗命高士廉等修《氏族志》，升降去取，時稱允當。至是，許敬宗等以其書不敘武氏本望，奏請改之，乃命禮部郎中禮志約等比類升降，以後族為第一等，其餘悉以仕唐官品高下為準，凡九等。於是士卒以軍功致位五品，豫士流，時人謂之「勳格」。
