Reading

Secure liquidity before a crisis, not during one.

Context

Rockefeller recalled being a heavy borrower in his early years, but he prepared for financial emergencies well before he needed the money. He arranged bank credit and cash reserves in advance, so that oil-price swings or new-field discoveries would not leave Standard Oil stranded. The discipline was to secure liquidity first and expand second.

Today's question

If revenue went to zero tomorrow, how long could your cash and credit last—and when did you last update that answer?
