大夫曰：「文學言行雖有伯夷之廉，不及柳下惠之貞，不過高瞻下視，絜言汙行，觴酒豆肉，遷延相讓，辭小取大，雞廉狼吞。趙綰、王臧之等，以儒術擢為上卿，而有奸利殘忍之心。主父偃以口舌取大官，竊權重，欺紿宗室，受諸侯之賂，卒皆誅死。東方朔自稱辯略，消堅釋石，當世無雙；然省其私行，狂夫不忍為，況無東方朔之口，其餘無可觀者也？」
