文學曰：「堯使禹為司空，平水土，隨山刊木，定高下而序九州。鄒衍非聖人，作怪誤，熒惑六國之君，以納其說。此春秋所謂『匹夫熒惑諸侯』者也。孔子曰：『未能事人，焉能事鬼神？』近者不達，焉能知瀛海？故無補於用者，君子不為；無益於治者，君子不由。三王信經道，而德光於四海；戰國信嘉言，而破亡如丘山。昔秦始皇已吞天下，欲幷萬國，亡其三十六郡；欲達瀛海，而失其州縣。知大義如斯，不如守小計也。」
